Over the weekend of October 19-20, the Digi60 team dropped in on three wildly different film sets during the 60-Day Challenge, catching the chaos, creativity, and magic.
From a rain-soaked residential street to a museum turned movie set to a bedroom wrapped in soft shadows, each team brought its own spark and resourcefulness to the shoot, and we were lucky enough to see it all unfold.
Our practicum student, Gracie Henneberry, roamed between sets capturing behind-the-scenes moments and prepping interviews. Here’s your sneak peek at the action!
Set 1: Precision Meets Drama
Ruth Kabengele and Kenneth Joe-Ezigbo’s team moved like a well-oiled indie film machine. With a DIY rain rig, precise lighting setups, and professional gear at the ready, the crew worked in tight coordination and with sharp creative focus. Watching them pull off a key rain-soaked moment with everyone perfectly in sync felt like watching movie magic happen in real time.
Set 2: A Museum Opens Its Doors
Kintail Museum in Almonte during its closed hours. As an early-stage indie filmmaker, Felipe's initiative and determination stood out — he reached out directly to secure the space, coordinated access, and built relationships with the local community to make it all happen.
The museum itself, rich with history and detail, became a character in their film. This unexpected collaboration didn’t just elevate the story visually — it captured the kind of resilience, creativity, and community spirit that defines independent filmmaking at its best.
Set 3: Small Space, Big Vision
Juan Manuel Rodriguez H.’s team transformed a quiet bedroom into a tension-filled performance space. Using a phone as a camera and working within a narrow shooting window, the team built emotional weight gradually through lighting, framing, and precise coordination. The process was quiet and focused, perfectly matching the compact and calm energy of the set.
Whether you’re directing, volunteering, or just showing up to support your friends, Digi60 2025 is shaping up to be full of surprises, heart, and a bit of magic.
You can catch the final videos during the festival. See you at the screenings!
