“The biggest challenge isn’t talent—it’s starting.”

In the first episode of the Wallbreakers Podcast, we sit down with Ottawa filmmakers Kishan Sondagar and Hussain Dawwas—two emerging creatives making their mark within the city’s growing film community. Kishan, a director at Greasy Fix Media, earned two awards at the 2023 Digi60 Filmmakers’ Festival for his film The Middle Eight, while Hussain Dawwas was also recognized with two awards for his film Watch What You Have.

Together, they kick off the series with an honest conversation about the realities of breaking into filmmaking—exploring the fears, challenges, and creative barriers that emerging filmmakers face, and what it takes to push through them.

What is WALLBREAKERS?

From one emerging creative to another, the biggest creative block is breaking into a competitive industry. How can we break down those walls and root stable foundation for our passion?

Here at Wallbreakers, we sit down with Canadian artists to chat about the challenges they face in establishing a creative career and advice they have for those who have yet to embark on this journey.
